A public open day on the 14th June 2014 marked the culmination of a 20 month restoration project led by the Cullompton Walronds Preservation Trust to enable the house and gardens to be used as a hub for community activities.

Thanks to a number of grant funders, including the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage and Devon County Council, Splitlath Building Conservation Limited of Hereford transformed the property and gardens using many local sub-contractors.

The property now known as the Walronds dates back to 1564 when it was purchased by Henry Parish after the Manor of Cullompton was sold off in parcels. The sale followed the dissolution of the Abbey of Buckland, its former owner.

Plum Pictures - James May's Railway Challenge

Background:
Launched in 2007, Plum Pictures has quickly risen to become one of the UK's fastest and growing critically acclaimed TV production companies.

With a reputation for producing highly innovative stand out series and individual formats, the company works with some of the leading names in British television, including Mary Portas, Hugh Lawrie, Ronnie Corbett and James May.

Its shows, which have been broadcast across both terrestrial and satellite channels, have also been sold to more than 140 countries.

It was a model railway challenge led by TV personality and Top Gear presenter James May that required Securi-Guard's specialist services. A previous attempt by the presenter to set up the challenge was thwarted when thieves stole batteries and sections of the track - and this time organisers weren't taking any chances.

For more information: www.plumpictures.co.uk

Services:
Plum Pictures enlisted the help of Securi-Guard to provide round the clock security across the entire route of the miniature railway, which was set up on a ten mile stretch of the Tarka Trail between Barnstaple and Bideford in North Devon. The route had a number of remote sections, which required particular attention to security by the Securi-Guard team.

Security Guarding - A team of ten officers from the company's SIA Approved Contractor guarding service was utilised to provide a visible deterrent. The level of manpower enabled each officer to cover a one mile section of the railway route, day and night - ensuring the whole route was protectedLone worker monitoring - Crucial to the operation was the use of lone worker monitoring devices. It meant each officer was in constant two way contact with the Securi-Guard control room if any issues arose. Due to the nature of the devices, the company was also able to monitor the officers’ exact movements on the trail should any of them have required an emergency or other response. Each of the devices was also fitted with a panic facility, should an immediate response be required at any time during the security operation.
